No. Free works with no email, credit card, or hosted account — install it and connect to a database.

No. Everything in Free keeps working without one, for as long as you like. When it is online, dashmongo sends a small check-in to our license server once a day; if that fails, it simply tries again later and nothing stops working. Pro needs internet to activate, and to confirm the license every few days.

Only a random installation ID, a one-way machine fingerprint, the dashmongo version, and your operating system. Never usernames, passwords, connection strings, or anything from your databases. You can see every check-in, and exactly what it contained, under Settings › License.

Any MongoDB you can reach — Atlas, a VPS, or a local instance — over TLS or with client certificates, with a reachability status shown for each connection.

Nothing is deleted. Everything you have already set up keeps working — you just cannot add more until Pro is active again.

Backups run on a schedule or on demand and are sent to S3 or R2. You can browse a backup before restoring it, including partial restores.
